Martha shares her involvement with the Heart Rhythm Society, where she chairs the Allied Professional Council and has been involved in developing leadership infrastructure for allied professionals. Both Martha and Dr. Peacock discuss their work in healthcare technology integration, patient care improvements, and the importance of maintaining work-life balance while encouraging mentorship and professional development among healthcare staff.
Doctorate’s Impact on Nursing Leadership
Martha Ferrara, DNP discussed her career progression and the impact of obtaining a doctorate degree. She was motivated by her mother’s example to pursue education and improve patient care. The doctorate degree allowed her to have a greater influence in her role as a nurse practitioner and provided her with a seat at the leadership table at White Plains Hospital. She emphasized that while the degree was challenging, it has been worthwhile for her career advancement and patient care.
