What if I told you I spent years mistaking adrenaline for love?
I grew up believing love was drama. My parents got divorced when I was a child. And something inside me has mistaken love with instability. I began to look for intensity, danger, the emotionally unavailable man – the motorbike, the butterflies.
If it felt overwhelming, I thought it must be real.
Then I got married. Three months later, my late husband got diagnosed with cancer. Love became full time caregiving. Sacrifice. Staying longer. Needing less. For 7 long years. Until I slowly disappeared inside all of it.
I didn’t know that love without boundaries turns into resentment.
For years, I searched for love outside myself – in romance, in service, in being needed. Until one quiet day, something shifted.
I realised that I am no longer broken. I am already home within myself.
This episode is my reflection at 43 on what love is and what it isn’t.
