It feels good to lay the blame – and it could be ruining us.
Our species evolved in a context where quick decisions that are right most of the time are far more valuable than slower decisions that are right all of the time.
But what was a critical need for survival then, can be in many ways a a disaster for us today.
There are numerous known biases that routinely misdirect us when trying to understand the world. In many realms of cognition, it appears that simplified misattribution is the norm. But where we take our misattributions as a chance to prosecute rivals, we start to terminally stray from understanding the world.
Whether it's sexism, bad traffic, environmental destruction or war in the middle east – it feels good to know who is responsible. Especially when it's not us. But we can't fully understand complex problems with simple readings – and it's very hard to solve problems that you don't understand.
Join Chris for an exploration of moral warfare and come to realise that the true obvious enemies of us all are the people who don't listen to the Chris Endrey Podcast.
