DaNetta Simpson is no stranger to running for office. This is her third time running for mayor in Detroit, and she hopes this time, voters will listen to what she has to say.
“I’m a lifetime resident. Okay, first of all, I lived in the struggle, not too far from the Black Bottom (neighborhood) on the east side. And I’ve lived in the struggle with most of the residents in the city of Detroit within the past 40 to 45 years now. So I have a lot in common with them. I have experienced what they have experienced. I have been left out, and so have (many of) them.”
