In this episode, Reps. Greg Landsman (OH-01) and Marc Veasey (TX-33) are joined by Congresswoman Kim Schrier (WA-08), the first pediatrician in Congress and chair of the New Dem Rural Revitalization Working Group.
As a doctor, Rep. Schrier has seen firsthand what happens when people don’t have access to healthcare. The members discuss how Congressional Republican cuts to Medicare and Medicaid will not only hurt those who are losing their coverage, but will put a strain on the entire healthcare system. Rep. Schrier also explains how rural communities are especially vulnerable to these cuts, as it has already led to several rural hospital closures.
They also discuss the dangerous rhetoric that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has pushed for years about vaccine safety, something Rep. Schrier dealt with as a pediatrician and continues to push back against.
Finally, they react to a recent campaign ad that Trump aired on television using taxpayer dollars.
