We invited Kirsty Badenoch and Floriama Candea … two artist passionate about ecology the broader natural world and our place in it. …We feel that between them they cover opposite sides of the spectrum in working with nature while still rooted in a similar philosophical and theoretical background. Kirsty has worked with ecology in terms of landscape architecture, urban planning and research but her focus right now has turned to art while also running a small gallery in London… focused on landscape practices. We are very interested in her work because she highlights natural processes in time space motion accumulation degradation and interaction, bringing forward the experience! of nature… rather than what our eyes can glimpse in an instant. We featured her work in our first show here at Non last year.As for Floriama, she is a very active artist both in Bucharest and internationally with a show currently running in Vienna. Her work is more on the speculative side and invites our imagination and critical eye to wonder what is our place in the world and where are the boundaries between rocks plants humans and technology. Creating hybrids between all of these she creates a more optimistic and unified world where we can look within .. and rediscover ties we share the animate and inanimate universe. A lot of her work is fueled by collaborations with scientists and incorporates a lot of technology giving it an extra level of rigor and demanding from us a second level of attention after the first impact of her pieces.
