Episode 41
Hi and welcome to episode 41 where I play The Casbahs, Subscene, Luna Marble, and Orlando Kallen.
The Casbahs – Electric Daydreams
(You try saying it!)
They start us off with a cracking guitar track that could have done with a bit more in my opinion, but I loved it just the same. This is what Joe sent me:
THE CASBAHS are a five-piece guitar-driven indie rock band from the North East, carrying the spirit of Britain’s great guitar bands from the 80s, 90s and 00s into the present day. With jangly riffs, soaring choruses, walls of noise and unapologetically big solos, their sound is both nostalgic and fresh – unmistakably British, with a classic edge.
Formed in late 2019 by vocalist Niall Fenwick and guitarist Joe Teasdale, the band’s early singles So Happy and Wanderlust set the tone before the release of debut EP Sea or Sky. After delays brought by the pandemic, their debut album Been Here Before arrived in 2022, featuring fan favourites Insomniac and Out of Luck. Since then, The Casbahs have grown into a powerful live act, playing shows across the North East and picking up support from BBC Introducing.
Now joined by lead guitarist Steven Grainger, The Casbahs are gearing up for their most ambitious chapter yet. Their new single Electric Daydreams (out September 19) is a huge, feel-good anthem with a chorus that lifts you sky-high and a solo that blasts you straight back down to earth. It’s about seeing the world from greater heights and that’s the intended feeling when listening to it. It begins a series of tracks building up to their long-awaited second album.
As is the case with a lot of artists, they use Linktree — it’s like a website but not as good as one:

Subscene – And We Float
A wonderful earthy mixture of urban beats and ethereal vocals (you like that?). Just beautiful and reminiscent of friends of the podcast The Zealots, which is a wonderful thing. Jude wrote:
SUBSCENE is made up of myself and Lester Kamen. We met through the modelling industry, and then started writing together and recording together in Lewisham when Lester lived there and I lived in Tooting, this was about 2 years ago now. We both come from creative backgrounds — my parents were in a band together (Salvation Sunday!) my dad still playing and doing his thing in Winchester! Lester’s got an interesting background in music and art too. His uncle Nick Kamen was a musician and worked with some really cool people in the 80s. His uncle Chester Kamen played in bands and was a session player too.
We record all of our music in Oxford which is where Lester is based, with producer Oli Whitworth. But we write anywhere and everywhere we can!
We just released our first single Some Days We Float a few weeks ago, and our next song Only a Phone Call Away will be available on all platforms on November 7th.

Luna Marble – Crazy Loving
Taking up the third spot this episode with a great rocking track that rinsed the title, which always goes down well with me. This is what they sent me:
Formed in 2021, Manchester-based Luna Marble is made up of Maria Rico on vocals, Dragos Colceriu on guitar, David Grundy on bass and Sean Stewart on drums.
Their music taps into the freedom and authenticity of 70s rock while redefining it as their own by seamlessly blending genres and adding whimsical charm. With supercharged stadium-ready tunes, the band marries anthemic choruses with ethereal textures and enchanting melodies, taking this well-loved genre to a new territory. They have been compared to acts like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac and Rival Sons.
The cosmos holds a deep presence within the band. Through stage outfits and starry stage decorations, Luna Marble offers their audience an audiovisual experience that complements their defiant and transcendental songwriting.
They won Classic Rock Magazine – Track of the Week, were shortlisted by Kerrang! Radio for a record label deal, and have playlist and radio support from artists like Joe Bonamassa and Elles Bailey on Planet Rock. Their debut album is set for release November 7th, with a special one-night-only preview show at Manchester Academy 3 on October 3rd.

Orlando Kallen – Greece n’ Paris
Orlando Kallen supplied me with my soundtrack for my next European holiday with this smash of a track that I absolutely loved.
Here’s the bio I was sent:
A 20-year-old Australian-born pop artist with Greek, Egyptian, and Croatian roots. Orlando is a singer, songwriter, and producer whose music blends timeless pop influences with a fresh, modern edge.
I found his website – and it’s fabulous!
orlandokallen.com
It contains a must see video of the song as well as a chance to win a thousand dollars. I kid you not!
And there you have it. I may have said a few other things but to be frank, I’m just too tired to remember and I only recorded this about half an hour ago. So please forgive me (Drew) if I’ve missed anything.
I did mention that you can help support the podcast by subscribing to our Patreon page, so go and have a look and see if you can spare £5.
Love you, bye!
