Making Space for Others | Romans 11 | Mike Donohue
If God wants to save us, what does it mean when the people around us simply aren’t interested?
Romans 11 wrestles with a difficult question: why do some people seem hardened to the good news of Jesus? For Paul, this wasn’t merely a theological problem. He deeply cared that others would experience the mercy of God that he had experienced himself.
In this message, Mike Donohue explores the mystery of God’s mercy and what it means for the way we see, love, and engage the people around us.
Together we’ll explore:
- Why Paul cared so deeply that others would know Jesus
- How comparison can leave us with restless hearts
- Why only God can ultimately tell us that we’re “enough”
- How the gospel transcends cultures without erasing their differences
- What it looks like to make physical, relational, and spiritual space for others
- How we can share our faith without manipulation or feeling responsible for the outcome
We aren’t called to force people to believe, nor are we called to simply stop caring. Instead, we’re invited to live in the tension—to pray, make space, listen, engage, and trust that God is already at work.
God’s mercy isn’t something we’re meant to hold onto for ourselves. It’s something we’re invited to receive and then make space for others to receive as well.
“Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!” — Romans 11:33
