James B is a football journalist and content creator who has built his dream career in one of the most competitive and volatile spaces on YouTube.Having spent 5 years at AFTV, where he got to work in and understand the world of football media from the inside, he made the decision to step away and build his own platform, The Goonerverse .He took a concept he developed during his master’s program that was originally something completely different and repositioned it into a vehicle through which he could work for himself while practising the type of journalism he actually wanted to be doing.We dug deep into his experience and his views on football YouTube, what it takes to stand out in a crowded space, and the mindset he developed to back himself and build something of his own without having everything mapped out from the start.
