This week on Taboo Texarkana, I sit down with Deandre “The Dreaded Archer” Reed for one of the most honest conversations we’ve had about mental health, identity, and the healing power of the outdoors.
Deandre opens up about battling depression, using alcohol to cope, and how picking up a bow completely changed the direction of his life. We talk about why time in nature can be so powerful for mental health and the importance of finding a community that challenges you to grow.
We also dive into breaking stereotypes around hunting, why Deandre is passionate about introducing more African Americans to archery and the outdoors, and his vision for building a stronger outdoor community right here in East Texas.
Whether you’ve hunted your whole life or have never touched a bow, this conversation is really about something much bigger: finding purpose, building community, and becoming the person you’re meant to be.
