In this deeply honest and inspiring episode of the Taboo Texarkana Podcast, I sit down with Yulia, a woman who has had a profound impact on my own yoga and healing journey.
Yulia was the first yoga teacher I ever took a class from, and today she’s continuing her path of service by pursuing work as a counselor and openly sharing how therapy has helped transform her life. Originally from Russia, Yulia reflects on her childhood, her experience immigrating to the United States, and how cultural differences shaped her worldview.
She also bravely opens up about surviving brain cancer, sharing how that life-altering experience changed her relationship with her body, mind, and purpose. We talk about the importance of having a daily practice—whether that’s meditation, singing, movement, or simply showing up for yourself consistently.
Yulia also shares about hosting women’s circles and cacao ceremonies, creating intentional spaces for connection, healing, and community.
This conversation is raw, grounding, and deeply human—an invitation to slow down, listen inward, and remember that healing doesn’t have to look one specific way.
