Being a dad to a nonverbal autistic son forced John Dye to slow down and see his life through a completely different lens.
During our conversation, I asked him a hard question:
“Who are you outside of being a caretaker?”
That one question opened a door. Through quiet mornings, walks, faith, and giving himself permission to rest, John began to rebuild his identity—not just as a caregiver, but as a whole human being.
In this episode, John shares:
🔹 What it’s really like parenting a nonverbal autistic child
🔹 How he began to find his identity again through self-care
🔹 Why what you’re living right now is a season, not a life sentence
🔹 A message of hope for parents who feel exhausted, unseen, or lost
If you’re in the thick of it, this conversation is your reminder:
You won’t always feel like this.
You’re allowed to take up space in your own life, too. 💛
