Dan Goerke is back on Miles to Zen, and this conversation takes us somewhere fascinating.
Dan first joined me to talk about his experience caring for his wife, Denise, after she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at just 56. In his book, he shared how he began communicating with her telepathically and how that unexpected connection became one of the tools he used as her caregiver.
Since our first conversation, Dan's world has expanded in ways neither of us could have predicted.
He has appeared on The Telepathy Tapes and now works with caregivers of people with dementia, as well as families of non-speaking autistic people, people who have experienced strokes, and people who have been in comas.
In this conversation, Dan shares some of the extraordinary experiences that have come through that work.
We talk about the synchronicity that led him to The Telepathy Tapes, a remarkable reading with a man named Pedro who speaks Spanish, his unexpected experience of being welcomed to “The Hill,” and the beautiful story of Isla.
Then there is Calvin, a six-year-old non-speaking autistic boy who Dan says continues to communicate with him but also Calvin’s mom through music, including one particularly wild story involving The Moody Blues.
We also talk about Alzheimer's from a very different perspective, including Dan's experiences communicating with people who are nearing the end of their lives and the messages he says he receives about loved ones on the other side.
And underneath all of these stories is a much bigger question:
What happens when we become willing to question what we think we know?
This isn't a conversation about having all the answers. It's about curiosity, possibility, love, synchronicity and being willing to look again when something doesn't fit neatly into our existing worldview.
Dan's final message is simple:
Trust.
Trust the little messages. Trust the unexpected connections. Trust the things that make you stop and wonder.
Because, as we've talked about many times on Miles to Zen, sometimes the most interesting part of life begins when we become curious about what we can't quite explain.
If you're curious about telepathy, The Telepathy Tapes, Alzheimer's, non-speaking autism, synchronicity, spirituality or simply the possibility that there is more to being human than we currently understand, I think you'll want to hear this one.
And stay right to the end. Dan has one final message for me that I definitely wasn't expecting.
