This Black History Month, ”Conversations in Black” spotlights Black men’s health through the story of Rockville Fire Marshal Carl Young.
After persistent stomach pain in late 2024, Carl was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma in March 2025. He began chemotherapy and completed four intensive treatments.
Alongside medical care, he embraced holistic practices, improved his diet, exercised regularly, and actively participated in his healing.
Now disease-free, Carl’s journey underscores the power of early detection, self-advocacy, and whole-body wellness and serves as a call for Black men to prioritize their health.
