In this episode of the Healthier Workplaces Show Podcast, we interview Industrial Hygienist Frank Hearl, P.E.
Frank conducted extensive industrial hygiene and epidemiological research focused on dust-induced and lung diseases, leading major projects such as an international study on silica and lung cancer in collaboration with institutions in China and the U.S.
As leader of the National Occupational Research Agenda Mixed Exposures Team, he ensured that occupational health standards reflected the complex realities of workplace exposures.
Later, as chief of staff at NIOSH, he coordinated with federal agencies to translate research and risk assessments into practical, science-based policies for occupational safety and health.
We’re going to talk to Frank about his 40-plus years in OEHS and learn how the field has changed since he started his career.
