Welcome to the On Directing podcast with Adam Paul Stone. I’m your host, Adam Paul Stone. I’m super excited to be jumping to the second episode of this show where we talk about the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking and cutting through the smoke and mirrors of what it’s like to be a director and all the mental gymnastics and burdens that we deal with as directors.
I met Veronica Cordell back in 2010 I believe, on a short film that I was doing in 2012 we started making a web series, and she came on as a script supervisor, but since then, she’s worked on every one of my movies as a wardrobe supervisor. And then on my last short film, she made her way into the producing role. She’s always been a big supporter of mine, and I appreciate her friendship. In 2022 she reached out to me with a script that she wanted to direct called The Duel, and we got to collaborate on that together, and it was the first time we got to hang out in a nonprofessional way. Even though we were doing a film, we got to get one on one. We were fast friends, even though we had been friends for 10-plus years. And I think this podcast shows that we talked a lot about her first time directing and all those hurdles she had to go through mentally to get to this place of directing her first movie. So I think it’s a great conversation that we have. It’s like listening to old friends talk over coffee. Hope you guys enjoyed this episode, and if you’d like to view the short film that we made together, it’s called The Duel, and you can catch it on my YouTube channel at Adam Paul stone, or just search my name, Adam Paul stone, the duel into YouTube, and you’ll find it on my YouTube channel.
