Bella is back on Trans Crush! We first met Bella in Season 1, and a lot has changed since then. She has moved from London to Perth, Australia, and in this episode she talks honestly about how different her life feels now. She describes what it is like to wake up and not think about being trans every single day, the sense of normality she has found in Perth, and why Australia feels so different from the UK when it comes to how people react to trans people.
We also talk about some of the harder parts of transition. Gender dysphoria, the pressure to pass, being a 6'1” trans woman, body image, and the ridiculous beauty standards we put on ourselves. Bella also shares her experience with trans healthcare in Australia compared with the UK, including the huge difference in waiting times and how much knowledge doctors have about gender affirming care.
And we get into something I think a lot of people will relate to: how social media can completely distort the way we see ourselves. Bella talks about why she stepped back from trans activism and started focusing more on simply living her life. There are some really honest moments in this conversation, especially when we talk about dysphoria, confidence and learning to look at yourself with a little more kindness.
And if you're a parent of a trans teenager, stay until the end. Bella has some really thoughtful advice about social media, comparison and helping young people who are struggling with their bodies.
Come back to Patreon after the episode for a much more personal conversation about dating, relationships, sex, attraction and what actually makes a trans woman choose a partner: https://www.patreon.com/transcrush/
