RUGBY PLAYER TURNED INTERNATIONAL REFEREE
When one chapter closes, this Mum opened another in a whole new province that ended opening up opportunities she took with open arms. Tiana Ngawati-Anderson is one determined Mama. Carving her way through the refereeing landscape being true to herself and her way of doing things, she found strength in the unthinkable then smashed her own glass ceiling. Now carving up on the World 7’s Series, she is unearthing more of what she is capable of.
Her humble beginnings in club rugby in Auckland led her (through opportunities for her strength and conditioning coach husband) to BOP where she picked up the whistle, because committing to team trainings was time consuming in the eyes of motherhood. Refereeing means that this Mama can put her work rate to the test in her own time and has proven to be beneficial in achieving her wildest dreams. Jump in and enjoy a longer chat with me and my refereeing pal.
