Our goal is to have something for everyone as long is it pertains to dairy sheep. We want to help YOU feel more confident diving into sheep for milk. We highlight different breeds for milking – both dairy specific and traditional heritage breeds – and talk about when you would want to pick one over the other. On this show we want to help you start to finish – from lambing, to milking, to cheesemaking. We also cover ethical harvesting of access or retired animals, delicious recipes for the meat, and what to do with all that wool (as there are currently no hair dairy breeds of sheep).
So whether you are just trying to decide what species to add to your operation next, or knee deep in shepherding and desperately needing someone to come alongside you, we hope you’ll join us as we dive into all things pertaining to raising sheep for milk!

My good friend Marissa Gutierrez joins us today as we discuss desert breeds of dairy sheep. We also discuss being savvy to the nuances of dairy breeds and how that effects homestead management. Our conversation led to sharing burnout and discouragement, and how we dealt with it (spoiler alert: calling each other!!) and how imperative it is to build community and support when homesteading, shepherding and dairying.
