Next Generation Entertainment Soaps: Remembering Santa Barbara and Celebrating a Powerful New Plot Twist
Tonight, we are celebrating a true convergence of daytime drama history and bold new storytelling.
We were honored to sit down with two remarkable figures whose work helped define and elevate the world of soap opera as we know it.
Jerome Dobson, the creative force behind Santa Barbara, joins us to share incredible memories from his time shaping some of the most iconic shows in television history, including General Hospital, Another World, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light. He takes us behind the scenes of a genre he helped transform with sharper dialogue, richer characters, and fearless storytelling.
Lane Davies, forever remembered as the unforgettable Mason Capwell, brings his own powerful reflections on Santa Barbara, his time as Travis Montgomery on All My Children, and his journey through both daytime and primetime television. He shares stories filled with heart, humor, and the kind of depth that made his performances truly stand apart.
Together, they reunite in a full circle moment for the world premiere of Plot Twist, a brand new play written by Jerome Dobson and directed by Lane Davies, debuting this month in Atlanta. Presented by the Conasauga Shakespeare Coalition in association with Dobson Productions, this new work promises layered characters, unexpected turns, and the kind of storytelling that keeps you leaning forward, waiting for what happens next.
