Episode 42, yeh baby, we're out on location this week, in the beer garden at Thornbury Local with young pub rock rebels the Antics. We get the full band, with front babe punk rock fireball and fearless band leader Freya joined by some new recruits to the camp, Kealy, James and Will. We discuss the joys of discovering a new sound with new band mates, jamming the new tunes and planning up and coming gigs (there are a few). The Antics sound is rooted in original Australian Pub rock. The band prove there mettle and music knowledge with the classics like Coloured Balls, the Saints and Radio Birdman. 4 very talented musicians, fire in the bellies, thunderbolts in their eyes, education done right and ready to rock a dive bar near you. We also chat about other bands like Our Carlson, cutters, Frenzal and Django Reinhart, we discover James' favourite band is Sabbath and NIB is his go to, apparently Freya's rehearsals recently have been so electric that blood has been drawn – inspiring the whole band to play harder, the Tote is still the best to play but Melbourne has so many and its hard to chose, Kealy loves Devo (and so do we), Bandcamp is better than Spotify but maybe LimeWire was best of all time?, also di you know Will is also your Beat magazine gig guide maestro?
New music is being writing, rehearsed and recorded
Gigs coming up:
This Saturday July 19th at the Evelyn supporting Dr Sures Unusual Practice and Public Figures
Next Thursday July 24th at the Old Bar for Leaps And Bounds Music fest with Lothario and Public Figures (again, I think they're friends or something)
