In this deeply moving episode of Light the Day, JulieCluff sits down with Michelle Ledbetter—registered nurse, hospice care provider, and near-death experiencer—to explore a journey of profound transformation, healing, and spiritual awakening.
After surviving a life-altering car accident seven yearsago, Michelle entered an out-of-body state that would change the course of her life. She describes initially feeling calm, held, and deeply supported, as if surrounded by an undeniable presence of love. But her experience soon shifted.
Michelle shares how she began to move through a series ofintense and traumatic visions, including painful moments from her own life and the suffering of others, particularly children. These scenes filled her with overwhelming fear, grief, and confusion. At one point, the experience became sodark and consuming that she believed she had entered hell.
What followed was a powerful turning point. In the midst ofthat fear, Michelle encountered a brilliant light, one she initially mistook for fire. Instead of destruction, however, this light became a catalyst for awakening, revealing a deeper truth about love, healing, and the nature of existence.
Michelle opens up about how this near-death experiencehelped her process a lifetime of trauma, including childhood abuse and a difficult marriage that had led her to reject religion and spirituality. Through meditation and deep inner work, she began to integrate what she experienced and reconnect with a sense of peace and purpose.
She also shares the powerful questions that guided herhealing: “How can I see this differently?” and “What is this trying to teach me?”—simple yet transformative tools that helped her shift from suffering into understanding.
As a hospice nurse, Michelle now brings a unique andcompassionate perspective to end-of-life care. She offers insight into the spiritual aspects of dying, including a deeper understanding of terminal agitation and what may be happening beyond the physical body during thetransition.
This conversation is a profound reminder that even thedarkest moments can become gateways to healing, awareness, and transformation—and that love may be present even when we cannot yet see it.
