Kathy grew up attending Catholic schools while frequently moving with her family, which led her to feel like she never quite fit in as the “new kid” in town. This feeling persisted as she navigated the challenges of building a career and raising her children. Life was never easy, before, during, or after her Near-Death Experience (NDE). In 1999, Kathy became critically ill with a deadly flu that left her hospitalized, placed on a ventilator, and in an induced coma for three weeks while she fought for her life. The doctors told her that the coma-inducing medications would put her into a deep sleep with no memories of the experience. However, her experience was anything but forgettable. After everything went black, Kathy found herself in a hellish realm filled with deep anguish, before the heavens opened and she was lovingly greeted by her former partner, who welcomed her “home.” Since her NDE, Kathy has worked to integrate this profound experience on the other side. Her involvement with IANDS (the International Association of Near-Death Studies) and the people she met there helped her understand what happened and why. Today, Kathy lives with the mission to bring joy to others through her daily interactions, always striving to embody the heavenly instructions she received: to be loving, kind, merciful, forgiving, encouraging, grateful, non-judgmental, and useful.
