Welcome back to The Cozy Lung Lounge Podcast, brought to you by BluZone Health. This week, we’re focusing on how to make the most of your medical appointments. Being a prepared and proactive patient is one of the best things you can do to manage your COPD effectively.

💬 What We Cover:
Preparation is Key
- Self-Assess: Ask yourself, “Am I as active as I want to be? If not, why/what happens?”
- Keep a Health Journal/Log: Include concerns, symptoms, vitals, lifestyle changes, and plans for change (i.e., exercise).
- Prioritize: Pre-prioritize your questions and concerns for the visit.
- Medication List: Make a list of all medications (times, dosages, how they work for you) and all supplements with dosages.
- Support: If desired, bring a companion to take notes or be there for support.
- Take Notes: Bring something to record your doctor’s advice and instructions.
- Avoid Beforehand: Skip the alcohol, high-fat foods, large amounts of caffeine, and smoking prior to your appointment.
Key Questions for Your Doctor
- “Are you going to change up my medications/inhalers? Why or why not?”
- Discuss creating or updating The Action Plan to track trouble.
- “Am I due for any tests? When was my last PFT or 6-minute walk test (6MWT)?”
