Tackling the middle-aged lady’s mental load, one topic at a time.
Inflammation. It's quietly behind so much of what starts cropping up as we age — the rheumatoid arthritis, the Crohn's, the joints that suddenly have opinions.
But this week, we found some hope. And it might be hiding in your muffin top.
We sit down with Korbet Annis of Vital Cells (American Cell Technology) for a conversation that started at a surrogacy conference and completely reorganized how we think about aging.
Korbet's work centers on a claim researchers are actively studying: that infusing your own stem cells may help calm inflammation in your body — both the slow, systemic kind and the acute, I-hurt-my-shoulder kind. And in her experience, when you address the systemic, the acute may show up less often. In fact, plastic surgeons are now infusing stem cells into faces to reduce inflammation when healing.
Sidenote: if you assumed stem cell banking and cord blood banking were the same thing (like we did!), you could not be more wrong. They're two completely different things!
In this episode, you'll learn how your own stem cells can be extracted from your own fat, grown like a sourdough starter, and banked for your body to draw on later.
We get into inflammation, injury recovery, what this all means for our aging bodies — and yes, why Korbet and her husband infuse their bodies with stem cells every six months.
One note before you listen: Korbet is not a medical provider, and neither are we. This is an emerging therapy, and honestly, your own doctor may not be up on it yet.
Stay with us through the beginning. It gets so good.
