John Duffy is a writer who has lived a fairly bizarre life. A skate punk from Chicago, after film school he traveled with the seasons spending a lot of time in the southwest where he only cared to drink and skate big concrete. Getting sober in 2010 when he lived in Austin, TX, he tried to save the world for a little while. In his early thirties he moved to the woods of southern Indiana where he built a cabin with his wife and had a daughter. In 2016 he started training Brazilian jiu jitsu, which he now teaches. Somehow he found time to make several podcasts and write several books and works of short fiction. His debut novel “A Ballroom for Ghost Dancing” was shortlisted for the 2024 Indiana Author’s Award and his second novel, “Where When It Rains,” will be available in December 2024 from Picket Fire Press.
