We are back from a short hiatus, still deep in Series 8 of The DOD45 Show. Episodes are less frequent now with the ArtByTai art tour schedule, but when they land, they land big. Yes, this one runs long. We don’t care. We are not a podcast, we are a SHOW. It is free, we love it, and if you think it is too long, either watch it or don’t. Complaining about it is like complaining that a mural is too wide.
The episode kicks off with Tai’s recap of his trip to San Francisco for the Handsmade Collective Dax Pierson Tribute Show, where he spent time with Jel of Anticon, Doseone, M. Sayyid, and Handsmade founder Zack. It was a moving night of music and visuals at the Gray Area Theater, honoring Dax Pierson of Subtle and 13 & God. Tai also drops an unofficial announcement of the DOD45 Compilation Album… nearly every past guest is on board, with beats in hand from Buck 65, Blockhead, Steel Tipped Dove, Mike Ladd, Remi Rough, DJ Zole, DJ Criminal and more, plus interludes by Mr. Dibbs. See details here.
From there, the bulk of the episode dives into a full recap of the Strange Famous Ocean Mist Beach Bash in Rhode Island. Tai and Adrienne sit down with Sage Francis to laugh through memories of the show, the pizza party hosted by Early Adopted, and a gloriously chaotic whiffle ball game with the Strange Famous family. Short drop-ins from the crew Storm Davis, Mopes, Jesse the Tree, Metermaids, BlackLiq, Early Adopted, Cas One, and Seez Mics make this a true Strange Famous celebration. Packed with laughs, footage, and a whole lot of love for independent hip hop, this episode is basically a family reunion on camera.
