Beyond The Speech
Beyond The Speech
Podcast Description
Do you honestly think that all the highly successful people with great businesses and books and youtube channels out there with their productivity hacks, they have it all figured out? Do they never feel down and just want to lay in bed all day watching Netflix and eat Cheetos with 1 hand and gulping a drink in another? Do they really follow all the hacks that they talk about in their books and really squeeze productivity out of their day and consistently perform at their peak? Do they feel nice? Well, you are in the right place. I am starting this podcast out of a deep-seated curiosity and a desire to learn from…..everyone. As someone constantly seeking to improve myself, I found myself drawn to the stories and strategies of those who have achieved any type of success in their respective fields. So this podcast is about those stories. The books that I read, what I learnt from them, Readers, authors, productivity gurus, or just a random stranger on social media who might be able to help ME level up and in doing so, help you.

Finding the right balance between Productivity and Mental Health
In this episode, I sit down with Dayna Gowan — founder of Improvly Speaking, Distinguished Toastmaster, workshop facilitator, and host of the Improvly Speaking podcast. Dayna’s story starts in a bathroom, crying after a disastrous presentation, and ends with her building an entire career around the very thing that terrified her most.
We talk about how improv — yes, the kind you see on a comedy stage — is one of the most underrated tools for communication, confidence, and mental health. Dayna breaks down what “Yes, and…” really means beyond the stage, how improv helped her through the pandemic, and why letting go of perfection might be the most productive thing you can do.
We also get into the messy middle: imposter syndrome, analysis paralysis, the “more than zero” mindset, and what it actually takes to sustain a creative project when self-doubt is loud. Plus, Dayna shares what new motherhood taught her about uncertainty — and why she now calls it her friend.
If you’ve ever held back because you didn’t feel ready, qualified, or confident enough, this one’s for you.
