Pastor Kevin Cain & Rev. Dr. David Spence move through the heart of Luke’s Gospel, opening with a look at Luke himself — the Gentile physician, meticulous observer, and gifted writer whose care for the marginalized & for women runs through every chapter. The episode works through some of the most beloved parables in all of Scripture: the Good Samaritan, the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son — with the hosts drawing out the brilliant context of Luke 15, where the lost sheep and prodigal represent those outside the flock while the lost coin and the older brother represent those already inside the house who need to come home too. A standout moment comes as Pastor Kevin unpacks the Good Samaritan through the lens of Dr. Jim Halbert’s observation that the priest and the Levite “stepped over ministry to get to ministry,” connecting it directly to the work happening right outside our own front doors. The episode closes on the rich man and Lazarus, the great chasm, and a powerful meditation on Jesus as the only bridge — a reminder that the exclusivity of Christ is always paired with the inclusivity of His call.
