The podcast explores themes like pilot psychology, weather analysis, and personal journeys in adventure sports, with episodes highlighting topics such as how flying reflects one's personality, the transition from athlete to photographer, and insights from experienced adventure racers. For example, discussions with guests like Bernie Hertz dive deep into combining technology with natural intuition for better flight planning.

Join adventure athlete and Red Bull X-Alps veteran Paul Guschlbauer as he talks to extraordinary people about their personal journeys – on mountains, in the air, and through life.
This podcast explores what it means to follow your own path: the decisions, the setbacks, the breakthroughs.
From world-class athletes to everyday flyers, from bold beginners to seasoned guides – each episode dives deep into stories of courage, change, and connection.
Whether you’re chasing thermals or chasing dreams, this show is for everyone seeking more than just a line on a map.
New episodes twice a month.
The first-ever Wanderbird Adventure is history.
8 days, fully self-supported, through the Alps.
No competition, no rankings, no support crews. Just you, your glider, and the elements.
On the final day, right after returning to Westendorf, I'm sitting down with four of the pioneers:
Phil (66, from San Diego and the oldest participant, who hiked over 120 km on a badly damaged ankle)
Jules (France, almost 200 km on foot)
Alex (Singapore, who came to the Adventure through the Wanderbird Academy)
Gregor (who went from rock bottom – rain, a soaked glider, wanting to quit – back to full motivation).
We talk about the raw, fresh stories from this week:
Why making your own decisions and owning them changes everything.
Why morale matters just as much as efficiency.
About the moment Alex stopped trying to ”game the system” and decided to fully send it.
About Gregor's rollercoaster from his lowest point to elation within just a few hours.
And about the invisible thread that connected us all, even though we were often alone for days.
It's not a race. It's a journey to yourself, with the glider as the vehicle.
Thank you to Phil, Jules, Alex, and Gregor for being pioneers and sharing their stories here.
