Hi I’m Krutika and today’s conversation is with Alpa.
We discuss a topic that’s guaranteed to affect 100% of women at some point in their life. Perimenopause. Referring to the years before a woman stops menstruating, it can be triggered as early as a when a woman is in her 30’s.
Despite it being a certainty for every woman, the reality is that the struggles of perimenopause are seldom shared so openly. Whether it’s denial, fear, or judgement, women silently suffer…choosing isolation over support, enduring pain over respite and ultimately feeling a loss of identity.
This conversation is not offering medical advice, rather it’s one woman’s journeys of enduring over 2 decades of perimenopausal symptoms that affected all aspects of her being. Now on the other side of this journey, Alpa spotlights what we don’t always hear. We discuss how trauma internalised will eventually find its release and how holistic methods of self-care helped her see through the worst of her symptoms.
Alpa’s journey conveys bravery, courage and a level of resilience that is hugely inspiration. Perimenopause is inevitable for women but understanding it shouldn’t be optional for anyone! If this episode resonates, I’d strongly encourage you to share it because I think wider awareness will create empathy, and empathy has the power to create change and hold space for understanding.
