In this episode of Unveiling Journeys, Tiffany Alexander sits down with Jeanette Deatherage, longtime Mary Kay independent beauty consultant and leader, to talk about persistence, entrepreneurship, confidence, and why she still loves helping women after more than four decades in the business.

Jeanette’s journey didn’t begin in beauty.

Inspired by her brother’s military service, she joined the Air Force after high school and was placed in electronics… working in an environment filled largely with men. Looking for connection with other women eventually led her to Mary Kay.

What started as something she barely worked at for several years eventually became a thriving business after one simple challenge from her director pushed her to take it seriously.

Since then, Jeanette says she has earned the use of 11 company cars, approximately eight diamond rings, and more than 100 prizes while building a business that could move with her wherever military life took her.

With more than 40 years in Mary Kay, she has empowered women through beauty education and entrepreneurship while also serving veterans, volunteering in her community, and earning recognition for her service.
