We need more animal fantasy that isn’t just for children/young adults. For the horse-girls who grew up to be horse-women, there is something powerful about the horse as a mythical creature in stories.

Surrounded by an abundance of dragons, griffins and the like in fantasy literature, I love how H.A. Walker has gone down the magical equine route. With a background in veterinary nursing, she’s used this specialised knowledge to craft an immerse world filled with fantastical horses, pegasi and unicorns.

Don’t be fooled by the horsey vibes, as H.A. Walker’s Trinitor Chronicles (Night Sky Burning and Dawn Sky Rising) are aimed at adults. Perhaps it is the natural progression from reading books like ‘The Silver Brumby’ or ‘Black Beauty’ that when you get older, The Trinitor Chronicles is right there waiting for you to immerse yourself in a new, grown up world of magical horses.
