This is StRest! In this episode, Kerstin Lindquist sits down with Dr. Ben Edwards to ask one big question: what if the main thing keeping you sick isn’t your diagnosis, but your beliefs, rhythms, and identity? Dr. Edwards shares his own story of infertility and the moment “Seek first the kingdom” finally landed—shifting an idol of family into a doorway for a completely different way of practicing medicine.
From there, they pull back the curtain on the modern medical system: 7-minute visits, protocol-driven care, and a culture of fear around income, reputation, and licenses—even as the U.S. ranks dead last among industrialized nations in infant mortality, maternal mortality, and lifespan. They dive into chronic illness (Lyme, autoimmunity, diabetes), why the “bug” is rarely the root problem, how sleep apnea, seed oils, stress, and a redlined nervous system make us easy targets, and why supplements like melatonin are warning lights, not the fix. Using diabetes as a case study, Dr. Edwards explains mitochondria as a broken engine, and how muscle, morning sun, real fats, minerals, and peace with God work together to restore true metabolic health.
Kerstin and Dr. Edwards finish with “the basics”: four pillars—nutrition, hydration, movement, and peace—and his nine-module Veritas Wellness course to help people step out of standard American living into something more ancestral and biblically aligned. He speaks directly to the woman stuck on the couch with her snacks, meds, and shame, and offers a first step that isn’t another hack: an honest conversation with God, confession of unbelief, and inviting the Holy Spirit to rewrite her identity. Kerstin closes with a one-year update on StRest, why the show is taking a December break, and how listeners can use Advent to step out of constant content and into real rest with Jesus.
