Maria grew up as a CODA, a Child of Deaf Adults, with American Sign Language as her first language. At just 12 years old, she found herself interpreting for her parents at the closing table when they purchased their first home, an experience that helped shape the way she approaches real estate today.
What stood out to me most was Maria’s perspective on what it actually means to listen. Growing up with ASL taught her to make eye contact, read body language, notice emotion, and be fully present with the person in front of her.
