Leadership isn’t just about holding a title. It’s about influence, resilience, and intentional action.
In this episode of The Rebound, I'm joined by one of the biggest influences on my life – former Davidson Head Basketball Coach (and my high school coach) Bob McKillop to explore what it really takes to lead with impact…starting with the most vital ingredient: the ability to build and embody Trust, Commitment, and Care (TCC).
Our conversation breaks down how TCC lays the foundation for any high-performing team, whether you're leading from the front office or the front court. These principles shape the culture, communication, and effectiveness of any organization or group effort.
Trust is more than just a buzzword; it’s the bedrock of a safe, open, and honest environment where people thrive. From modeling integrity to encouraging open dialogue, leaders who establish trust empower their teams to take ownership and collaborate more effectively.
Commitment and Care take leadership to the next level—when teams see their leaders show up with purpose and heart, they follow suit. It’s not just about setting the bar; it’s about showing up every day, investing in people, and never losing sight of the mission.
Key Takeaways:
- Leadership is rooted in behaviors, not job titles or roles.
- Trust must be demonstrated through consistent, transparent actions.
- Commitment means showing up fully and investing in shared goals.
- Leaders should care about their team’s well-being and growth.
- TCC (Trust, Commitment, Care) defines a successful team culture.
- Impactful leadership requires lifelong learning and forward momentum.
