Through our clinic, SHELL Health, we offer a variety of sexual health services. We have a mobile testing unit that’s available to bring our clinical services to any county in Southwest Alabama.

*AIDS Alabama South is a non-profit located in Mobile, Alabama. In this episode, I’m joined by Shafia Zaloom to discuss consent. We talk about how she got into her work, some patterns seen in adults and teens who didn’t receive affirmative consent education, consent as a continuous dialogue, legal vs ethical requirements of consent, as well as how to ask for consent without killing the mood.
Shafia Zaloom is a health educator, consultant, and author known as “the consent lady.” Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Cosmopolitan, NPR, and PBS. She teaches consent and sexuality education across a wide range of audiences, from high school students to graduate students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and she leads trainings for teachers and workshops for parents nationwide.
