In this episode of Rock Paper Write, Amy L. Watkins sits down with Carmen Benito-Vessels, author of Caleidoscopio, a captivating collection of 49 short narratives that blend fiction, memory, observation, and humor. Carmen shares the inspiration behind the book and discusses how her curiosity about the world, language, and everyday experiences shapes her writing. We also explore her journey from scholar and professor to creative writer and what it means to see the world through a writer’s kaleidoscope of perspectives.
Caleidoscopio was published in Spanish in 2024 and is described by the University of Maryland as a collection that invites readers to see the world from Carmen’s distinctive, curious perspective.
You can find her books at the Kensington Row Bookshop and learn more about her and our local authors here.
