A Huskies Health is back with former UConn Football star Chris Bellamy who is a mental health and advocate for fathers' rights, along with having the hit podcast All Black Men Need Therapy. I love times I get to talk with Chris, he is such a great person.
We go over the P. Diddy trial and Chris believes the Government overcharged by going for a RICO case, yes, clearly, we see him committing domestic violence, going to federal court seems like he is being targeted. Chris goes over the history of Mr. Combs and how Bad Boy Records was started, He talks about money, power, prestige can change people to think they are untouchable.
We talk about the workshop/curriculum Chris developed about the importance of fathers being in a child's life. Chris spent years looking at many studies showing kids with fathers are less likely to have behavioral problems, mental health issues, perform better in school, become active in activities such as sports or school groups, overall have successful lives. Chris said his goal was to educate fathers because they don't always know their rights or lack resources to help them. Unfortunately, courts can be biased and favor mothers in situations where a couple is not married. Fathers will give up the fight before it begins when Chris wants his workshop to provide information that they are granted equal rights and certain resources are there to help them. This was a powerful and polarizing episode.
