Whether you’re living with allergies yourself or supporting someone that is, there’ll be psychological insights to help. I’m doctor Karen Murphy, chartered clinical psychologist, and a specialist in supporting those living with allergies.
I’m really glad you’re here. Let’s begin.
In this episode, I’m joined by the brilliant James Gardner, Director of Nursing at the Allergy Centre of Excellence.
James brings over 20 years of experience in allergy care and he’s also someone living with a food allergy himself, so his perspective is both professional and deeply personal.
Together, we chat about how allergy treatments are evolving, including the growing role of food immunotherapy. But this episode isn’t just about the clinical side of things, it’s about the real-life challenges families face every day. Because we know it’s not as simple as just “avoiding” allergens.
We explore what these treatment journeys can look like for children and families, how personalised they need to be, and why the emotional side of allergy management matters just as much as the medical side. James also shares some really helpful ideas for supporting your child through the ups and downs of allergy life.
If you or someone in your family is navigating allergies, this one’s for you. You’ll find reassurance, practical advice, and maybe even a bit of hope about what’s coming next in allergy care.
Please spread the message and share this episode with anyone who you think would benefit. Whether you’re living with allergies yourself or supporting someone that is, there’ll be psychological insights to help
