The Spark

The Spark
Podcast Description
Creativity is a deeply human practice. For as long as people have existed, they’ve been telling stories, making pictures, singing songs. And for just as long, they’ve brought joy to those around them. Libraries are repositories of creativity and places where community can flourish. From Nashville Public Library, we’re here to talk about the triumphs and tribulations, the joy of creativity in all its forms, and the enjoyment of appreciating the creations of others and the connections they make. All those things that light something up within you, that give you The Spark.

Welcome back to The Spark, NPL’s podcast about art and creativity.
Today, we’re joined by Michael J. Ewing, an associate curator from the Frist Art Museum, to talk about his work on some of the Frist’s newest shows and what goes into making a museum welcoming and engaging to all who enter. Specifically, the exhibitions “David C. Driskell & Friends: Creativity, Collaboration, and Friendship” and “Kindred Spirits: Intergenerational Forms of Expression, 1966–1999,” both of which are on view until June 1, 2025.
